Welcome to Chelmsford Theatre Workshop (CTW), a passionate and creative theatre company at the heart of Chelmsford’s cultural scene. Since our founding in 1969, we’ve been dedicated to producing, developing, and exploring all aspects of theatre and performing arts. Whether you’re a lifelong theatre lover or discovering the magic of live performance for the first time, we offer a warm and welcoming space for all.
Our home, The Old Court Theatre, is a charming and intimate venue with a rich history of storytelling and innovation. Located on Springfield Road, opposite Chelmsford Prison, we’re just a short walk from the town centre and easily accessible by train, bus, or car. With a diverse season of six to ten productions each year – ranging from classics and contemporary dramas to comedies and experimental pieces – there’s always something exciting on our stage.
Beyond performances, we offer a thriving social hub with our bar, coffee bar, and friendly community of like-minded creatives. Whether you’re looking to take centre stage, work behind the scenes, or simply enjoy a night out at the theatre, there are countless ways to get involved.
