Swan Theatre

Tucked away in the heart of Yeovil, the Swan Theatre is the little venue with a big story. Once a derelict pub, it has been lovingly transformed by volunteers into an intimate performance space where audiences sit close to the action and every show feels personal. From the very first production in 1976 to today’s packed seasons, it has always been powered by local passion, creativity and a warm welcome.

Run entirely by volunteers, the Swan offers six productions a year, visiting companies, rehearsed readings and workshops – creating opportunities on stage, backstage and front of house for people of all experience levels. With excellent acoustics, professional-standard lighting and sound, and a cosy bar for interval chat, it is a place where non-professional theatre is produced with professional standards and a real sense of community pride.

As we celebrate more than 50 years of stories, we are also looking ahead. A major refurbishment and development plan is under way to improve comfort, access and backstage facilities, and our crowdfunding campaign is helping to make that happen. Every ticket bought, donation made and new volunteer who joins us keeps The Swan thriving for future generations.
