Step into the rich heritage of the Corn Exchange Theatre – a true gem in the heart of Wallingford. Home to the Sinodun Players since 1976, our Grade II Listed building beautifully blends history and creativity under one roof. From its days as a derelict market hall to its transformation into a thriving performance venue, every brick tells a story of passion, community spirit and theatrical flair. Today, the theatre continues to sparkle as both a live performance space and a cosy cinema, ensuring there’s always something to enjoy – whatever your taste.
The Sinodun Players have been entertaining audiences since 1948, and their legacy runs deep within our walls. Founded by the charismatic Frances Curtis – a former Gaiety Girl – the society has seen some famous names associated with its history, including Dame Agatha Christie, who served as President for 25 years. With a proud tradition of pantomimes, dramas, comedies and musical productions, every show is brought to life by a talented team of volunteers who share one goal: to create unforgettable experiences for our audiences.
Whether you’re a lifelong theatre-goer or a first-time visitor, you’ll find a warm welcome and an inspiring atmosphere at the Corn Exchange. Enjoy a glass of wine in the coffee lounge named after Frances Curtis, take in a performance, or join us as a member and become part of our story. Experience the charm, community and creativity that make the Corn Exchange Theatre truly special.
