We put on five of our own productions a year including drama, musicals, comedies, Shakespeare, and pantomime. From time to time, we also put on additional productions such as a murder mystery, or a topical review.

These productions take place in March, May, July and September with the panto in December. Shows run for five performances from Tuesday to Saturday evening, plus an additional matinee performance on Saturday (trialling in 2026). Due to its popularity, the panto runs for thirteen performances, including matinee performances at the weekends.

The cast and crew change with every show, so there is plenty of opportunity to join in the fun. If you want to act in a show, you should know that auditions take place between three and five months before it opens and are advertised on our website. Rehearsals are held twice weekly with a final dress rehearsal the weekend before the show opens.

There is plenty of opportunity to join the backstage team too: whether your interest is set building, painting, wardrobe and props, or sound and lighting, our friendly team will be pleased to welcome you.

At the Players Theatre, we host around 25 visiting shows every year, which can be music performances, plays or comedy, and we hold a social evening for members on the third Wednesday evening of most months: details on our website. Thame Cinema For All also show about 25 film screenings at the theatre each year.

Membership of Thame Players is open to everyone. You don’t need any previous experience, just an interest in local theatre, whether you’re keen on acting, helping backstage, front of house, or you just want to see our shows.
