Tucked away in the historic heart of Nottingham’s Lace Market district, the Lace Market Theatre is a hidden gem with a proud past and a thriving present. Housed in a former chapel dating back to 1760, our intimate 118-seat theatre has been lovingly restored and extended by generations of dedicated volunteers. With a rich theatrical tradition stretching back to 1922, we’re a public theatre that’s become known for staging bold, thought-provoking, and high-quality productions you’d otherwise have to travel to London to see.
We’re not just about putting on great shows – we’re about nurturing talent and building community. From first-time actors and directors cutting their teeth in our unique “Fents” studio space to alumni who’ve gone on to train professionally, the Lace Market Theatre is a place where creativity is encouraged and everyone can get involved. Our volunteers have always been at the heart of what we do, and in 2022 we were honoured to receive the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service – a testament to the commitment and passion of our members past and present.
