Home to The Guild of Players, the Theatre Royal (the oldest working theatre in Scotland) is in the heart of Dumfries and first opened its doors in 1792. It has strong associations with the renowned Scottish poet Robert Burns, who wrote several pieces specifically for its stage.
Attend one of our world-class touring productions presented throughout the year with everything from live music, to stand up comedy and theatrical dramas, ensuring that local communities have access to the best performing arts shows in their town.
Our bar opens 1 hour before the show. Come along and enjoy a variety of beverages, soft drinks and snacks. The Guild of Players presents a regular season of four shows, as well as a family-friendly Christmas pantomime.
