An inspiring one-day theatre writing workshop for beginners and experienced writers alike, led by industry professionals.

Calling all aspiring playwrights and lovers of the stage! Join us for this dynamic and inspiring one-day Writing Workshop Day for Theatre on 11 April at the Corn Exchange, Wallingford, home to the Sinodun Players, theatre of the LTG Chairman Nick Morley. Link to Google Map HERE.

The Workshop is led by professional Workshop leaders (see the programme below) with real-world experience in the theatre industry.

Whether you have never written a line, or you are already an experienced playwright, this will be a lively day and is designed for everyone. Develop your craft, meet fellow creatives, and bring your stories to life under the expert guidance of our seasoned facilitators. All you need is your imagination.

Cost for each participant – £40 including sandwich lunch.

There has been a lot of interest in this event but there are still a few spaces available, so the deadline to book has been extended to close of play on Saturday 21 March. But do book now to secure your spot and let your words take centre stage!

09.30 – 10:00 – Arrival and introduction

10:00 – 12:00 – Workshop 1. Getting started

Writing prompts and exercises. How to develop your work. With Ali Warren, Wharf Writers Group. Ali has worked with English Heritage and the National Theatre to promote writing with and for young people. She is a member of the National Committee for the Little Theatre Guild

12:00 – 12:45  – Lunch

12:45 – 14:45 – Workshop 2 Adapting stories for performance with Jennifer Farmer.

Currently an Associate Lecturer at Goldsmiths and Central School of Speech and Drama and has facilitated workshops for many of the UK’s theatre and arts organisations such as the National Theatre, Frantic Assembly, Almeida Theatre, Soho Theatre and the Royal Court.

14:45 – 15:30 – Tea break

15:00 – 17:00 – Workshop 3 Directing new writing with Masha Kevinovna Maroutitch

Masha is the Artistic Director of OPIA Collective, an associate company of National Youth Theatre of GB. As a Writer and Director her work has been performed, commissioned and developed by BFI, Royal Albert Hall, Bunker Theatre, Theatre Royal Stratford East, Battersea Arts Centre, Nabakov Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company, Harts Theatre Company, National Youth Theatre, Lyric Hammersmith, Royal Court and Pleasance Theatre.

17:00 – 17:15 – Farewells and exchange of details.
