Theatres Trust: Update January 2021

As LTG Members will be aware, LTG is a Corporate Member of Theatres Trust. The Trust’s Director Jon Morgan has forwarded a round-up of events which I detail below.

Theatres Trust activities in 2020 and priorities for 2021 HERE.

Scenario planning toolkit
There is a toolkit and set of base scenarios to help theatres to challenge assumptions embedded in their business planning and plan for the year ahead. They have worked with theatres and producers to develop the four scenarios and they hope this resource will be a useful part of conversations around planning for 2021. A recording of our recent webinar on this subject is also available.

Free webinar series
These are free webinars, supported by the Garfield Weston, aimed at supporting theatres to deal with emerging challenges of change, reopening and survival continues with:

  • Theatres and audiences in 2021 (20 January) – exploring practical ways to confidently attract audiences back to our theatres.
  • Theatres with communities in 2021 (3 February) – looking at the extraordinary ways some of the UK’s leading venues have rooted their local community at the centre of their work during the pandemic.
  • Theatres as businesses in 2021 (17 February) – offering advice on the key learnings for running a theatre post-pandemic, including digital theatre, contracts and supporting workforce mental health.

Running a Crowdfunder campaign
The TT fundraising campaign #SaveOurTheatres in partnership with Crowdfunder has so far raised £1.6m in vital funds for 80 theatres across the UK, as they struggle due to the continued closures. Whether you are interested in setting up a Crowdfunder campaign or want tips to make the most of an existing campaign, Crowdfunder is hosting a free workshop on 1 February.
