£5,000 grant for Guild of Players, Dumfries. The grant installs a new entrance, side and internal doors, in keeping with Historic Scotland’s requirement for the category B-listed Theatre Royal Dumfries. Built in 1792 and said to be the oldest surviving purpose built theatre in Scotland, the Guild of Players bought the building in 1959, saving it from demolition. The theatre is undergoing major renovations to rationalise and improve backstage and front of house areas.
