Sue Johnston becomes the first Patron of the Green Room Theatre, Wilmslow

The Green Room Theatre, Wilmslow reports that:

“As we approach our Centenary year, we are thrilled to announce that the much-loved actor and Wilmslow resident, Sue Johnston, has agreed to become the Green Room Theatre Wilmslow’s very first Patron. Sue has played many roles in her career, including starring in the television series, Brookside, Waking the Dead, and The Royle Family, and the film Brassed Off, in addition to a wide range of theatre work.

She was awarded the OBE in 2009 for her services to drama and charity and received an honorary doctorate from the university of Chester. While her acting career is very busy, she is excited about joining us, and is keen that the role of Patron will be another success, and we are certain it will be.

The range of characters Sue has played over the years have been challenging, thought provoking, traditional, modern, funny and heartrending, and always extremely entertaining, and in our much smaller way, that is what we aim to offer our audience at the Green Room, so we feel Sue is a terrific inspiration for us as our Patron. We welcome Sue with open arms and look forward to working with her over the coming years.”
