Rabbie goes for a “wee dram”

On the 15th of March, 2014, the Theatre Royal Dumfries (home of the Guild of Players)

commemorated a new chapter in its history by taking Robbie Burns to the pub for ‘a wee dram.’ The bust of Robert Burns, which has watched over the theatre stage since 1960, was the last artefact removed from the building before its closure for construction works. It was accompanied by members of the Guild and Junior Guild and received by the Burns Howff Club, who held a reception in its honour in the Globe Inn. The bust will be stored in the Howff Room in the Globe for the duration of the renovation.
