Productive Meeting in Brussels on EcoDesign Lighting

Thank you to everyone for helping us raise awareness about the issues concerning stage lighting in the new EcoDesign Regulations from the EU Commission.

I wanted to give you an update on progress.

A group of professionals from across member organisations1, manufacturers and designers in the live entertainment industry had a very productive meeting in Brussels on 17 May on the issue of Stage Lighting with the European Commission.

As a result, we have agreed to channel our work into seeking to draft a specific, technically based, exemption for lighting uses in the Stage and Entertainment Industries in the new proposed Eco Regulations planned for 2020.

This work needs to happen quickly with our collective comments being channeled through Pearle2 to the European Commission in advance of the next draft of the regulations due in late June.

We would ask that you put your plans for campaigning on this issue on hold for now, while we undertake this next stage of work. We will keep your informed over the coming months, and let you know if and when we need more public support.

Please continue to address any questions to us at ceooffice@soltukt.co.uk.

Many thanks
