New LTG Member: Crown Wharf Theatre, Stone

The LTG National Committee is delighted to welcome a new member to the Central Region. They are Crown Wharf Theatre located in Stone, Staffordshire by the side of the Trent and Mersey Canal.

The theatre is not yet completed but it is well worth reading the fascinating story about their development and growth on their website HERE and to follow them on their Facebook page HERE, their Twitter page HERE, Instagram page HERE and YouTube HERE.

They hope to open in the autumn and will welcome audiences to their magnificent new theatre. We cannot wait to visit in person. And for those who love barging, we are building up a network of LTG Members that one could barge between: The Wharf Theatre Devizes on the banks of the Kennet and Avon Canal, The Crescent Theatre, Birmingham on the banks of the Birmingham Canal and Romiley Little Theatre on the banks of the Peak Forest Canal.

The Stone Revellers have performed in Stone since 1978 in a number of homes but they decided they needed a place for all local arts and community groups to come together. They linked up with Joule’s Brewery who offered to build the outer shell of their theatre and the project was up and running. Great combination: beer and theatre!

We hope that LTG Members, especially those in the Central Region will welcome Crown Wharf Theatre and pay them a visit when they open. And we hope to welcome them in person to this year’s LTG National Conference at The Questors Theatre 2 – 4 June.
