Performing Shakespeare: helping the ESU

LTG has been asked by the English Speaking Union – ESU – for assistance in finding venues for their Performing Shakespeare Competition for young people.

All the information you need to know about the event is HERE. In summary, the Performing Shakespeare Competition is for young people in Key Stage 3 (Years 7, 8 and 9) and the 12 – 13 Regional finals are ideally held in a theatre. Could your LTG Theatre be one of these venues?

A Regional Final has up to 24 performances (each 5 minutes) by each young person along with an hour workshop so the total time is around 3 1/2 hours. This could be the first time that these young people have been inside a theatre, and the organisers know that this can be the start of an interest in theatre and in performance.

If you are interested in finding out more and perhaps hosting a Regional final, please contact Matthew Christmas, Head of Engagement at the ESU. His email and phone details are in the document at the above link.

This would be a great way to help raise the profile of your theatre for young people in your area. The ESU Facebook link is HERE.
