LTG Council Member Jackie Blackwood is very happy to share this document with LTG Members which will be of particular interest to those who have a youth group.
It was drawn up when the authors noted that of the 27 set texts used by the four main exam boards in England for those studying GCSE drama, only one is by a Black author. And of the 61 set texts offered for students studying AS/A Level Drama and Theatre, only two are by Black, Asian and ethnically diverse authors.
This is the document: Developing a representative drama curriculum.
This offers some ideas and suggestions for what you might do in terms of assessing your curriculum. Of special interest to LTG Members, it suggests some brilliant plays by Black, Asian and ethnically diverse authors.
